Allison is currently pursuing her doctorate in science education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Originally from Connecticut, Allison received her undergraduate degree from Colgate University in biology and French. She has always had a passion for and commitment to science, STEM, research, and equitable education. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and creating her bullet journal. The teacher who had the biggest impact on her life is her high school biology teacher. Not only did this teacher make learning biology fun and engaging, she strongly believed in all her students' abilities to succeed in school and in life. She also served as an influential role model for girls studying science and becoming female scientists. This biology teacher ultimately impacted Allison's decisions to pursue biology as a major and to research science teaching and learning during her graduate studies.
